International Flights:Restriction on Entry to Japan and Taiwan due to New-type Coronavirus

Due to the influence of Pneumonia linked to New-type Coronavirus, entry restrictions have been announced in Japan and Taiwan.

Restriction on Entry to Japan

By the directives enforced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, the following persons will not be allowed to enter Japan temporarily except in special circumstances. (Updated on August 30, 2020)

  • Foreigners using Chinese passports issued by Hubei Province or Zhejiang Province of the People's Republic of China.
  • Foreigners who have boarded the Westerdam cruise ship and disembarked at the port of Sihanoukville in Cambodia.
  • Foreigners who have stayed in the following areas or countries within 14 days prior to your arrival in Japan.

They will not be able to enter Japan for a while except in special circumstances.

Restrictions on Entry to Taiwan

Due to the continued spread of COVID-19, travelers entering Taiwan are subject to the following restrictions starting from 12:00am on March 19 (Taiwan time).

  • 1 Travelers who are not Republic of China nationals will not be permitted to enter the country (apart from travelers who hold an alien resident certificate, business certificate, or have special permission).
  • 2 All travelers entering Taiwan, regardless of nationality, must undergo 14 days of home quarantine. Home quarantine means that you must obey certain restrictions, such as: you are not permitted to go outside during the quarantine period, you must stay within your designated place of quarantine (such as a hotel), you must pick up the phone when the Taiwan government or other agencies call to check on your status, you are not permitted to take public transport, you are not permitted to leave the country, etc.
  • 3 The government of Taiwan may revise its immigration policies based on the development of the COVID-19 outbreak in Japan. Please stay up-to-date on the latest information at all times.
